Violin, viola, and cello

William Elmore came to play the violin at what would be considered a late age for a serious musician. He spent his youth playing guitar in a garage with his heavy-metal band. It wasn't until he was a young adult at 18 that he picked up the violin. With the guidance of beloved professor Alan Scholl, he decided to make a career of it, by studying violin making. In 1996, he graduated from the four-year Violin Making School of America (VMSA) in Salt Lake City, Utah. Returning to the Bay Area, he found a home at Roland Feller Violin Makers in San Francisco, California, working on some of the finest instruments in the Bay Area for more than two decades. In 2023, he launched his own shop. Currently he is working in his Glenview home workshop while he hunts for a retail space in Oakland.
